My work starts as collaboration: I use plastic and vintage cameras that have attributes I exploit and which contribute to the creation of photographs that are ambiguous in form and content. Reacting intuitively, I initially allow for chance to play a large part. I encourage mistakes such as light leaks and blur, which add interesting compositional elements. By scratching into the emulsion of the negative or tearing the print, components of drawing and sculpture
become part of my process.
I am excited by the alchemy inherent in traditional photographic techniques and I am drawn to explore the optical and material properties and limitations of my craft
